quite possibly my favorite thing i’ve had the opportunity to do this year was to “coach” the concordia women’s flag football team for the biola tournament at the beginning of december. i knew i missed flag football, but i didn’t realize quite how much until i was bundling up for practice under lights every night at 9pm. (and it was in the 30s and 40s that week!) the ladies were so excited to play and i was so honored that they gave me the opportunity to help them out. i’m no football expert, but i definitely did a better job than i thought. they didn’t win at the tournament, and actually didn’t score a single touchdown, but i could not have been more proud of them. they had amazing attitudes, kept their heads up, played well, and had a great time. most of them went from knowing almost nothing about playing football to competing well as a team in a tournament. i was grateful to experience all of it with them, and i enjoyed the opportunity to get to know more women on campus. i know they cannot wait to go back again next year, and i must admit i’m already itching to enjoy s’more football. my goal for next year is to expand my knowledge and improve my coaching abilities so i can be a better help to them.
